ABOUT
Reem BinKaram is the Director of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment since 2016, where she manages and oversees the implementation and execution of its strategies. NAMA is an umbrella entity for three other entities: Sharjah Business Women Council, Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council, and Badiri Education and Development Academy.
NAMA is chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and works towards shaping a more equitable world for women.
In February 2010, Reem was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah for Capability Development (previously known as Sharjah Tatweer Forum). Sharjah for Capability Development is a non-profit organisation whose Honorary Chairperson is His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. As a think tank, the organization works on empowering youth, developing and promoting entrepreneurship, supporting viable projects for Sharjah and fostering community outreach initiatives. Reem served as the Director of Sharjah Children’s Centres (SCC) overseeing development of children with talent and a desire to realise their potential. SCC serves children throughout Sharjah with over fourteen centres of
innovation and talent in the emirate. She is also a board member of the Sharjah Girl Guides.
In 2016, she was appointed as a founding board member of Rubu Qarn (RQ), a foundation that was established for the purpose of creating UAE future leaders and innovators. RQ aims at nurturing a national identity – a culture rich in Arabic and Islamic values and global humanitarian kinship. She was also appointed as a board member of the UAE Girl Guides Association – Sharjah chapter, the same year.
Reem, who holds a bachelors’ degree in Interior Design from American University of Sharjah, is passionate about philanthropic work and chairs the Pink Caravan Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. The Pink Caravan is a pan UAE equestrian ride accompanied by extensive mobile medical teams to perform free medical examinations during the ten-day campaign in rural and urban areas around the country. The Pink Caravan is recognised as one of the most successful breast cancer awareness campaigns globally and has successfully provided free screenings to thousands of people since its initiation
